Training Details

Bloodbourne Pathologies and Communicable Diseases

There will be a 15-minute video presentation and a brief examination will be given at the end of the course. No pre-study material is required. Due within 30 days of hire, employees are required to attend this course prior to their first day of duty and must be renewed every year.

CPR

This course is comprised of lecture and practicum. Participants will learn the practice of CPR and have an opportunity to demonstrate their skill on “dummies.” No pre-study materials are required. Certification must be renewed every two years.

This class is open to non-staff at a cost of $45.

First Aid

This course is comprised of a lecture and practicum. Participants will learn the practice of first aid and have the opportunity to demonstrate various skills. No pre-study material is required. Certification must be renewed every two years.

This class is open to non-staff at a cost of $45.

CPR and First Aid can be taken together by non-staff at a cost of $60.

Kashrut

Gives new employees the basic understanding of how to keep kosher in the group homes. Pre-requisite of viewing the JFGH video “Keeping a Kosher Home” is a must. Participants are required to bring their JFGH policy manual to class.

Judaism

Gives new employees the basic understanding of Jewish holidays, customs and traditions.

This class is open to non-staff at a cost of $30.


Introduction to Developmental Disabilities (Sessions One & Two)

This is an 18-hour overview of subjects required by the Developmental Disabilities Administration. The course is taught in two separate sessions. There are no pre-study materials; however, a study packet is given during the course to each participant.

Session One:
Introduction to Developmental Disabilities I

  1. General Characteristics and Needs (2 credits)
  2. The Aging Process and Special Needs of Older Adults (4 credits)

Session Two:
Introduction to Developmental Disabilities II

  1. The Fundamental Rights (2 credits)
  2. Community Integration and Inclusion (2 credits)
  3. Communication Skills (2 credits)

Introduction of Developmental Disabilities III

  1. Principles of Behavior Change (2 credits)
  2. Supporting Individuals to Make Choices (2 credits)

This class is open to non-staff at a cost of $75.

Medication Technician Training Program

This is a 24-hour course taught in four parts. There is a Medication Manual for this course. Employees are required to take Math and Reading Comprehension tests before taking the initial Medication Class. The passing score is at least 70%.

This class is open to non-staff at a cost of $150.
