Meet our Nurses
Currently there are five registered nurses delegating
care to our twenty group homes. The following is a short
profile of each and the homes they cover. Rosemary, RN – graduated from Catholic University School of
Nursing in Washington, DC in 1991. She worked in several
area hospitals; Suburban, Holy Cross and most recently
Sibley Memorial. Her experience includes medical-surgical,
critical care, step down, endoscopy and same day surgery.
She began working part-time in the DD community in August
2006. She quickly became enamored with the population and
began full-time in December 2006 when she became JFGH’s
Nurse Administrator. She states that she loves that she can
use her acute care background in providing preventative
health care through training and delegating to direct care
staff as well as educating the residents themselves. Rosemary delegates to the following homes:
Bender Home, Feldman Home, Gelman II, Kay House, Meisel
Home,
Silverman Porten Home, Levin House and Stempler Stone Home
Regina, RN – graduated from Kumasi Nurses Training College in Ghana, West Africa in 1997. She has worked in
several fields of nursing, medical/surgical, orthopedics and
telemetry. She entered DD nursing two years ago and states
she loves the flexibility of the job and the opportunity to
help those with disabilities get the medical and nursing
care they need to live happy and healthy lives.
Regina delegates to the following homes:
Gelman I Home, Reich Home, Dalinsky ALU and Thal ALU
Mary, RN – graduated from St. Anselm’s College in
Manchester, NH in 1966 and has worked in Obstetrics
Intensive Care, medical/surgical and in Long Term Care. Mary
began working in the DD community 15 years ago and has
helped provide excellent health care to our residents as
well as training to direct care staff. She teaches the MTTP
course to staff wanting to become medication administration
technicians. Mary states that she receives more warmth and
acceptance from the residents than she could possibly give
and the bonds built up over time with them is extremely
rewarding.
Mary has delegated to almost all of our homes over the past
15 years but currently delegates to the following ones:
Berlinsky Young Home, Mendelson I, Wagner Home, Cohen Home
Perrina, RN – graduated from University of District of
Columbia in 1997. Her nursing background is in psychiatric
nursing and orthopedic/trauma nursing. She has been involved
in the DD community over the last 15 years in the District
of Columbia and last 5 years in Maryland. She feels the
nurse is a key professional player in assisting the
residents in reaching their maximum independence with
compassion.
Perrina delegates to the following homes:
Brown House, Polinger Home, Rubin Home and Sagon Home
Sharan, RN – graduated from Indiana Hospital School of
Nursing, Indiana, PA in 1974. Her professional experience
includes Critical Care for adults and pediatrics, hospital
management and finally the last 10 years in the DD
community. She started her tenure at JFGH teaching our MTTP
class, CPR, First Aid, Communicable Diseases and Blood
Bourne Pathogen courses to our direct care staff and is now
a delegating nurse for two of our homes. She is a member of
ANA, MNA District 8 and Office of Health Care Quality.
Through her love of teaching, she is able to share her
knowledge with staff, residents and family members so as to
provide the highest level of health care.
